This is a mid-range option that gives you the opportunity to trek gorillas in Volcanoes national park. The journey is not at all different, what changes is the accommodation alone. You will stay at Lebambou Gorilla lodge instead of staying in a home inn. The first day is for arrival at the park, the second day is for the real action and the last day we go back to Kigali.
Day 1: Arrival at Volcanoes national park from Kigali
Our well trained and professional tour guide will pick you from the airport in Kigali upon arrival so you will feel very comfortable and at home. You will then be taken around the city to have a glance at this gorgeous place and get to know the reason behind the famous name of “The land of a thousand hills”. You will then proceed to Virunga national park found north of Ruhengeri. You will pass past incredible scenes of nature as well as properly crafted highlands which have neat farmlands. Once you arrive, you will be taken to Lebambou Gorilla lodge to freshen up and rest from the day’s activities and also get ready for the second days activity which requires as much energy saved up.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
You will have a very early morning breakfast before you can set off in the depth of the indigenous forest to trek gorillas. Once there it feels like Switzerland in Africa. Strange intimacy of colorful birds singing to unknown melodies welcomes you as soon as you set foot on to the trekking field. Golden monkeys jumping from tree to tree in circles and elusive populations of elephants and buffalos just leave you in awe. After this tiresome but exciting activity, you get to relax and eat the evening away in the liberating ambience of the lodge.
Day 3: Departure from the park to Kigali
Having enjoyed this amazing escapade, you will head back to Kigali and on your way; you may visit the genocide memorial sites if you want to. You will live to tell everyone about this itinerary.
